Hey, I’m Andrew Root.
I often go by Andy. I teach classes on youth ministry, young adults, family, church, and culture (all with a deep theological bent) at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. At Luther I’m the Olson Baalson Associate Professor of Youth and Family Ministry and have lately been thinking and writing on issues surrounding the intersection of faith and science, including being the co-recipient of a Templeton grant to get that conversation started outside of my head. It’s called Science for Youth Ministry – you can check it out here. I’ve written a number of books and have given lectures and presentations across the country and globe both to church groups, youth workers, and academic communities. I live in St. Paul, my wife Kara is a Presbyterian minister and we have two kids (Owen and Maisy) and two dogs. When I’m not teaching and writing I watch a ton of TV and movies and I’m a huge Twins and Gopher hockey fan.
